Lakeside Wedding | The Lake House, Pickering Ontario
Have you ever walked along the scenic shoreline of Lake Ontario? Along it's winding shores is Frenchmen's Bay, a nautical port with charming store fronts and cafes lining it's main street. In the summer the Port is bustling with locals and tourists strolling along the board walk, getting ice cream from Grandpas, and sunbathing on the beach. Funny enough, our bride C and I tend to run into each other there all the time in the summer months. During the early fall in September the port becomes a quiet haven near the water, all the tourists have left and only locals tend to hang around. This is where our beautiful couples photos took place. Tucked in the marina behind the main street is The Lake House, a wedding venue overlooking the water and all it’s passing sail boats.
We created a very elegant and neutral colour palette for C & B’s wedding day. As C would say “whites and neutral but with sparkle”. We used garden roses, dahlias and astilbe to complete her bouquet, and B’s boutonniere featured a matching cream spray rose. For the venue we simply used greenery to embellish upon their theme. Simple airy ruscus layered around their wooden centrepieces and candles. On the head table we created a more structured garland look that intertwined with twinkling fairy lights. Elegant, modern, but with sparkle! My favourite feature of their wedding venue was the driftwood arbor that the couple had planned themselves, it truly tied in their lakeside wedding and brought nature indoors. Congrats C & B on your special day, to many years full of laughter and love!
Kirsten was amazing and I was so grateful to be able to depend on her on my wedding day. She created the most beautiful bridal bouquet for me, and after dropping it off the morning of the wedding, set up the floral at the venue. My bouquet was delivered in a beautiful mason jar/vase which I brought with me to the church and venue. It was great because during dinner my bouquet was in a vase in water on the head table! My flowers lasted almost two weeks, so I was able to have a little piece of my special day on my dining room table as a centrepiece.
Kirsten was incredibly helpful during our initial consult. I have little to no knowledge of flowers and she was able to suggest and create the most beautiful arrangement that fit my personality and theme of the wedding. Everyone was commenting on how beautiful it was!
